Selling with Charterhouse at the Classic TT

So you are thinking of selling.  If you decide to sell your items through Charterhouse at the Classic TT auction we would be delighted to help. We have decades of experience selling motorcycles successfully and have a vast list of potential buyers. The Classic TT is “one of the greatest biking events on the planet” (The Daily Telegraph) and will put your motorcycle in front of a world audience. We love what we do, and will do our very best for you, as we have done successfully for previous customers.

If you would like a free, no-obligation valuation, please use the form to email us your enquiry, or contact us directly bikes@charterhouse-auction.com, come and see us at our salerooms, or telephone us on (+44) (0)1935 812277.

We are also happy to visit your home by appointment to value motorbikes for sale, insurance, matrimonial dispute or probate purposes. Please complete the form, or call us at our salerooms, and Rosie will be happy to arrange a suitable date and time for you.

What happens next
Before the sale, your valuer will discuss what reserves you require if any, and the suggested worth of your motorcycle. We will post or email you your pre-sale notification, which has details of the lot numbers, descriptions and estimates, as agreed with your valuer.

Transporting your motorcycle to the Isle of Man could not be simpler – you are free to bring it over yourself, or we are recommending Chas Mortimer worldwide motorcycle transportation. Contact them directly here.

We notify you of your results by email the week following the sale, and two weeks after the sale, providing we have been paid, we send you your payment, with a full statement.

What we charge
All charges are as agreed before the auction.

Generally, apart from in exceptional circumstances, unless we have carried out another service for you such as clearance or collection, we would not expect to make a charge to you (apart from the entry fee) unless we are successful in selling something for you. We offer an honest, reasonably priced service, getting the highest prices for your lots in an international market at this ground breaking auction.

Full charges can be seen on your copy of the receipt, and in our terms and condition, but to summarise;

We charge 6% on the hammer price on motorbikes, and 15% for automobilia, and 1% loss and damage warranty. We also make a non-refundable charge to enter each motorcycle. To enter into the Classic TT auction this fee is as structured follows;

Standard – £100 with 1/2 page in the catalogue for your motorcycle

Premium – £200 with a full page in the catalogue

Premium plus – £300 with two pages in the catalogue (all charges plus VAT)

Photography charges are covered by the above fees unless agreed otherwise with us when your motorcycle is entered.
